IP-Only acquires the streaming company Arkena Nordics

IP-Only is taking the next big leap in laying the foundation for tomorrow’s digital society through the acquisition of Arkena’s Nordic operations, previously Qbrick, from TDF (French Terrestrial Network Operator).

Since the beginning of 2000, Arkena Nordics (Qbrick) has developed a strong position with regards to complete media streaming solutions to several of the largest media companies in the Nordic region. Since 2011, Arkena Nordics has been a fully owned subsidiary to the French TDF Group.

IP-Only has long delivered essential communication services to companies in the media sector, a market that is rapidly growing, as services delivered over the Internet today are integrated in virtually all industries. The acquisition of Arkena’s activities in the Nordics will provide IP-Only with the conditions needed in order to meet the increased demand, as well as higher function and quality requirements needed in, for instance, the distribution of society essential services over the Internet.

– Arkena has extensive experience and expertise in the area of advanced video distribution over the Internet and through the acquisition, IP-Only will be provided with a complete platform for continued growth in this area, says Mikael Philipsson, IP-Only Networks CEO.

– The deal also involves a strategic partnership with TDF, who will keep the brand Arkena, and resell our video distribution services in its French home markets, Mikael Philipsson adds.

– Through this deal, TDF’s subsidiary Arkena will now focus on its core activities: Playout services, OTT Cloud platforms and Content Management solutions. This partnership will also allow IP-Only to propose Arkena media solutions to the Nordic countries, confirms Aymeric de Cardes, Arkena CEO.
